Gov Alia launches quick response squad to tackle insecurity in Benue

In a bold step to strengthen the fight against insecurity, Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has unveiled a new security outfit known as the Quick Response Squad (QRS)—a strategic initiative aimed at boosting rapid response to threats, especially in vulnerable communities across the state.
The launch ceremony was officially conducted in Makurdi by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Sam Ode, who represented the governor at the event.
The QRS is a multi-agency joint task force, comprising members of the Civilian Protection Guard (CPG), Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), local hunters, and the Joint Task Force (JTF). This diverse security alliance is designed to combine local intelligence with fast, tactical operations to tackle emerging threats in real-time.

According to the state government, the squad will be actively deployed to known flashpoints and high-risk areas in order to prevent, contain, and neutralize potential attacks. The goal is to provide Benue residents with a renewed sense of safety and confidence in the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
