Nigerian community leader MaryAnn Oduntan honoured with King Charles’ Award in England

A proud moment for the Nigerian diaspora as Ms. MaryAnn Kikelomo Oduntan has been honoured with the prestigious King Charles’ Award for Voluntary Service in England the highest recognition awarded to volunteer groups and individuals across the United Kingdom.

MaryAnn, a passionate Community Project Worker and Manager of St. Barnabas Centre in Oldham, is among the few Black recipients of this distinguished honour. The award celebrates her outstanding dedication to community development, social support, and grassroots volunteerism.

With years of tireless service behind her, MaryAnn has become a beacon of hope and a voice for underrepresented communities in Oldham, leading various initiatives focused on youth engagement, mental health, and social inclusion.

She leads several life-changing projects including Women Thrive, Food Thrive, Holiday Thrive, and Teen Thrive — all designed to empower women, support families, and help young people grow in confidence.

MaryAnne is especially passionate about helping women step into their full potential, build confidence, and create positive change in their lives.

With her warm, inclusive approach and commitment to lifting others up, MaryAnne continues to make a powerful impact, bringing people together and helping her community thrive.
