In a bold stride toward public health reform, the initiator of the Geneith Health Competition (GHC), Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, and its sponsor, Mr. Emmanuel Umenwa, have lauded Nigerian students for their enthusiastic embrace of the initiative aimed at eradicating malaria across the country.

Speaking during a press briefing, the duo commended the unwavering support from student leaders across tertiary institutions, including universities led by Comrade Josiah Peter Oche, National President of the National Association of University Students (NAUS); polytechnics under Comrade Oyewumi Festus Ayomide, President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NASPS); and colleges of education, championed by Comrade Edunjobi Samuel Oluwaseun, National President of the National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES).

“We regard your participation in this initiative as a powerful step toward a malaria-free Nigeria,” said Ilobanafor.

“By rallying together, you have the potential to make an indelible impact on public health, raising awareness, and inspiring action among your peers and communities.”

Mr. Umenwa echoed his remarks, expressing gratitude to education stakeholders, policymakers, and institutional leaders for their collective recognition of malaria as a national health challenge that demands unified action.

“The involvement of students is crucial in this fight,” he said.

“They bring the energy, innovation, and reach needed to drive grassroots engagement and sustainable change.”

The Geneith Health Competition, powered by Coatal Forte Softgel, a potent antimalarial drug targeting the Plasmodium falciparum parasite, is designed not only to promote effective treatment but also to dismantle long-standing barriers to health education and access.

Through this program, Nigerian students are being empowered to serve as agents of transformation within their communities.

More than a contest, the GHC is a nationwide campaign that includes workshops, health walks, and outreach activities—all aimed at equipping students with knowledge and leadership skills vital for public health advocacy.

Participants are trained to identify malaria risk factors, implement preventative strategies, and educate local populations, especially in underserved regions.

“Our youth must not only be beneficiaries of healthcare advancements but also leaders in delivering them,” said Ilobanafor.

“This initiative is a call to action—to rise, mobilize, and lead the charge against malaria.”

With registration ongoing, the sponsors are urging students across Nigeria to take advantage of this unique platform.

“Join us in building a malaria-free future,” Umenwa added.

“Your commitment could be the turning point for millions.”

The Geneith Health Competition is more than just an initiative—it is a movement, driven by the nation’s youth, committed to rewriting the narrative of malaria in Nigeria.
