Niger flood death toll rises to 158 as more bodies are recovered in Mokwa

The Niger State Government has confirmed the recovery of five additional bodies from the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area, bringing the official death toll to a tragic 158.
According to a government statement, four bodies were recovered on Sunday evening, while the fifth was found early Monday morning, as rescue teams continue their tireless search efforts across the affected areas. All recovered bodies have beenlaid to rest**, in accordance with local customs.
The devastating flood, which struck several communities in Mokwa, has left families grieving, homes destroyed, and many residents displaced. Emergency response teams remain on the ground, providing aid and searching for any remaining missing persons.

The State Government wishes to appeal to residents and the general public to remain calm and prayerful in this moment of collective grief.
