Breaking…Explosion rocks Mararaba-Nyanya bypass in Abuja, police launch investigation

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed an explosion that occurred along the Mararaba-Nyanya bypass on Monday, May 26, 2025, at approximately 2:50 PM.
In response to a distress call, officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit were swiftly deployed to the scene. The area was promptly cordoned off to ensure public safety and to allow for a thorough assessment and cleanup operation.
One male victim was rescued and immediately transported to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

A full-scale investigation, including forensic analysis, is underway to determine the exact cause and nature of the explosion. Authorities are yet to confirm if the blast was accidental or deliberate.
The FCT Police Command has urged residents to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, assuring that there is no immediate cause for alarm.
