Grace-Charis Bassey was born as Uyu Effah on December 14, 1989, in Cross River State, Nigeria.
She is the daughter of Lieutenant Commander Asido Bassey Effah, a highly respected officer in the Nigerian Navy.
Raised in a disciplined environment alongside 13 siblings, her upbringing was strongly shaped by her father’s military background.
Academic journey
She attended Hillside International Nursery & Primary School and Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt.
Grace later studied Genetics and Biotechnology at the University of Calabar.
During her teenage years, she adopted the name Belinda upon the suggestion of her brother, marking her first public identity shift.
Acting career
Grace-Charis began her career in 2005 with a role in the TV series Shallow Waters.
She gained more visibility through her participation in the reality show Next Movie Star, where she finished fifth and remained in the house till the end of the show.
