Tinubu congratulates Carney on election as Canada’s 24th Prime Minister

President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Mark Joseph Carney following his victory in the recent Canadian parliamentary elections and his emergence as the 24th Prime Minister of Canada.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the electoral win by Carney and the Liberal Party as a significant and hard-fought triumph.
He noted that Canada stands to benefit from Carney’s wealth of experience, especially at a time when strong and capable leadership is crucial.
Mark Carney, a respected economist with an impressive résumé, previously served as Governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013 and later led the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020.

President Tinubu hopes that Carney’s banking and governance experience will guide the country at this crucial moment in its history.
He expressed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening relations between the two nations, particularly in education, climate change, and migration.
The President said he looks forward to establishing a dynamic and forward-looking partnership with Prime Minister Carney’s government, building on the goodwill and cooperation established under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
