Police rescue kidnapped Chinese national in Abuja, arrest suspects

A Chinese national who was abducted in Abuja on April 18, 2025, has been successfully rescued by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
According to intelligence reports, the victim—an employee of Panda Supermarket in the Jabi area and a resident of Stargate Apartment in Durumi—was kidnapped by two suspects identified as Abdul Rahim Imman Chindo and Ahmed Suleiman. Both individuals have been linked to Sunbelt Textile in Sharanda, Kano.
The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦300 million, sending a photo and a video of the victim on April 20 to pressure for payment.
However, through coordinated intelligence efforts and swift action by the FCT Police Command, the victim was safely rescued, and the suspects were apprehended.

In response, the FCT Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched a full-scale rescue operation in collaboration with the victim’s family and officials from the Chinese Embassy.
On April 21, 2025, after conducting digital analysis of the video and identifying the possible location of the kidnappers, a joint operation with the Air Force led to the successful rescue of the victim from Kunkele Forest near Minna Airport, Niger State. The victim, unharmed, was brought to the FCT Police Clinic for medical treatment, where he was confirmed to be in stable condition.
The rescued individual was later handed over to embassy officials, Mr. Jiang Haifeng and Mr. Gong Guangwei, along with his sister and cousin, Mr. Robin Abolo. Efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing.
