NUJ mourns passing of Pioneer National Secretary, Ogunlusi

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of its esteemed former National Secretary, Mr. Jola Ogunlusi, who died today at the age of 91 after a brief illness.
Mr. Ogunlusi holds a distinguished place in the history of the Union, being the very first person to be appointed as National Secretary in 1977.
His appointment marked a turning point in the evolution of the NUJ, transitioning from an era where the position was filled through elections to one of strategic appointments that would shape the Union’s future.

A trailblazer and visionary, Mr. Ogunlusi played a pivotal role in laying the groundwork for the Union’s growth. As the inaugural National Secretary, he spearheaded the establishment of the NUJ’s National Secretariat, setting a firm foundation that continues to support and sustain the organization to this day.
His legacy is indelible and his contributions to the journalism profession and the NUJ will be remembered for generations. The Union extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and all who were touched by his remarkable life and service.
