Eucharia Anunobi was born and raised in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State in southeastern Nigeria.

After completing her primary and secondary education, she proceeded to the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) in Enugu where she obtained a National Diploma in Mass Communication.

Driven by a passion for language and communication, she further pursued a Bachelor of Arts in English Language from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Career and rise to fame

Eucharia burst into the limelight in the mid-90s with her unforgettable role as Anita in Glamour Girls II in 1996, a film that showcased the glitz, complexities, and underbelly of high society life in Nigeria.

From there, she soared in Nollywood, taking on a variety of roles that displayed her range, from wealthy socialites to intense maternal figures and spiritual women. Her performance in ‘Abuja Connection’ remains one of her most iconic.

With a career spanning over two decades, Anunobi has featured in more than 150 films including Letters to a Stranger, The Last Burial, The Maid, Emotional Pain, and Man of God.

Personal life

Eucharia married Charles Ekwu in 2000, and the union was blessed with a son, Raymond Ekwu.

Sadly, the marriage ended in divorce after six years, and in 2010 she filed a ₦100 million lawsuit against her ex-husband over alleged neglect.

In 2017, tragedy struck when her only child, Raymond, passed away at age 15 due to complications from sickle cell anemia.

She has spoken openly about the pain of losing her “best friend,” describing it as the deepest sorrow she has ever known.

In 2015, she also lost her father, Felix Anunobi, following a brief illness.
