Igbo Community Assembly elects new executives in Abuja

The Igbo Community Assembly (ICA), the umbrella body representing Igbos in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has successfully elected a new set of executives to steer the affairs of the association for the next three years.

The election, described as free, fair, and transparent, saw the emergence of Ikenna Mutuanya as the new President General. Other newly elected officials include Charles Uzodinma as Vice President, Anthony Ibe as General Secretary, and Chinedu Okoli as Assistant Secretary.

Also elected were Timothy Maduabuchukwu as Treasurer and Elom Dominic Sunday as Financial Secretary.

Others include Ugochukwu Ogbonna, publicity Secretary, Chijioke Nwaeze, Chief Mashal , welfare officer 1, , Rose Jerry Rob welfare officer 2, Friday Aja , Chidi Obidike , provost .

Also elected as Ex officio are, Tobias Ogunoba, S. Emeka, Chief Onokwuru, Iyom Kate and Wilfred Ukpo.

Addressing the new executives, shortly after their Inauguration ,Eze Igbo 1 , Abuja, HRH Eze Ibe Nwosu charged them to be good ambassadors of the Igbo’s as well as promote the rich tradition and culture of the Igbo’s .

Equally, the monarch urged the new executives to champion harmonious relationship between the Igbo’s and their neighbours, especially the host community.

He said the essence of the association is to foster unity ,peace progress and development of the Igbo’s in the FCT , urging them to remain united as one indivisible body, and shun divisive tendencies and bickerings .

Eze Nwosu also admonished the new officials to be transparent and committed in the affairs of the association , adding that the survival of the association squarely rest on their shoulders.

The returning officer for the election , Bar Okechukwu Nzeukwu described the election as peaceful devoid of rancour.
