Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has officially signaled his intention to seek re-election by quietly picking up his expression of interest and nomination forms at the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Secretariat in Abuja.

The move, which marks the beginning of his journey toward a second term in office, was confirmed on Friday in a statement by APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara. According to Opara, Governor Soludo’s decision has been met with widespread endorsements from various groups and individuals across the state, a testament to the growing support for his leadership and vision.

According to Opara, the upcoming APGA governorship primary is set to be historic—the first of its kind in the party’s history—with high expectations for a peaceful and transparent process.

He praised the party leadership for its dedication to internal democracy, pointing out that the ongoing screening of aspirants has been conducted smoothly, free from rancor or controversy.

Governor Soludo’s re-election bid under APGA is widely seen as a major milestone for the party, which has continued to strengthen its hold on Anambra State politics through stability, strategic leadership, and grassroots support.

He disclosed that for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State, no fewer than 3,260 delegates are set to choose their preferred candidate in the primaries slated for Saturday.

He said, “In a demonstration of its commitment to deepening democratic principles, the APGA has conducted a seamless screening process for Governor Chukwuma Soludo, paving the way for his candidacy in the upcoming primary election.

“Governor Soludo, who has been endorsed by various groups and individuals for a second term in office, quietly picked up his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APGA National Secretariat in Abuja.

“The party’s National Working Committee, led by Ezeokenwa Sly, has certified him fit for the primary election scheduled for April 5, 2025.

“This development marks a significant milestone in the history of Anambra State elections, as Governor Soludo becomes the first aspirant to seek re-election based on his proven track record of performance. The APGA primary election promises to be a historic event, with over 3,260 delegates set to choose their preferred candidate. The party’s leadership has been praised for its commitment to peaceful and stable politics, with the screening process conducted without any rancor or controversy.”

He added that as the party prepares for the primary election, APGA members and supporters are optimistic about the future of the Party and the state.

“With its emphasis on progressive leadership and solutions-driven governance, APGA is poised to continue making a positive impact in Anambra state,” he added.
