Moses Simon nominated for Best African Player in Ligue 1

Super Eagles and Nantes winger, Moses Simon, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Marc-Vivien Foé Award, which honors the Best African Player in France’s Ligue 1.
The nomination is a testament to Simon’s exceptional performances throughout the season.
The award is named in memory of former Cameroon international Marc-Vivien Foé, who tragically passed away during a match in 2003. It continues to celebrate the remarkable contributions of African players in French football.
Simon has been instrumental for Nantes this season, showcasing his attacking prowess with seven goals and eight assists in 25 league appearances. His consistency and creativity on the pitch have made him a key player for the club, earning him well-deserved recognition among the best African stars in Ligue 1.

If Simon wins the award, he will become the third Nigerian to receive the honor. Vincent Enyeama was the first Nigerian winner in the 2013/14 season, followed by Victor Osimhen in 2019/20. Joining this elite list would further cement Simon’s legacy in Nigerian and African football history.
The Super Eagles star faces stiff competition from other top African talents in Ligue 1, including Lamine Camara, Habib Diarra, Yahia Fofana, Achraf Hakimi, and Abdoulaye Touré. Each nominee has showcased outstanding performances, making the race for the prestigious award highly competitive.
