Gunmen block Abuja-Bound bus, kidnap 18 passengers in Kogi

Suspected kidnappers have hijacked an Abuja-bound ABC Transport bus, abducting all 18 passengers on board in Kogi State.
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 16, near the Enugu-Kogi border in Ofu Local Government Area.
Retired Commodore Jerry Omodara, the security adviser to the Kogi State Governor, confirmed the attack and assured the public that efforts are underway to rescue the victims.
According to Omodara, security agencies, including the military, police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilante groups, have launched a coordinated operation to track down the kidnappers.

“This strong collaboration, along with helpful information from the local community, is key to our efforts to capture the kidnappers and secure the release of the victims,” Omodara stated.
He noted that security operatives held two meetings on Wednesday to strategize on the rescue mission, emphasizing that Kogi State has significantly reduced criminal activities through coordinated security efforts.
Omodara also reassured the families of victims that the government is committed to ensuring the safe return of all abducted passengers.
