Breaking…House of Reps passes tax reform bills amid controversy

The House of Representatives has passed for the third reading the four tax reform bills submitted to the National Assembly in October 2024.
During plenary on Tuesday, lawmakers approved the report from the House Committee on Finance, which had reviewed the bills alongside submissions from Nigerians.
The proposed reforms have sparked widespread debate, with Northern leaders, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and other stakeholders opposing certain provisions. Critics argue that some aspects of the bills could disproportionately affect specific regions and economic sectors.
