Police inspector severely injured as driver violates traffic rules in Abuja

A police inspector was left severely injured after being struck by a reckless driver who drove against traffic near the National Mosque in Abuja on Thursday night.
According to security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagozola Mama, the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m.
The driver, identified as Dav Auta, was behind the wheel of a Toyota Hummer Bus, moving against the flow of traffic from the National Christian Center toward Wuse Zone 4.
The dangerous maneuver resulted in a tragic accident, leaving the police officer in critical condition.

“The driver ignored road signs and recklessly took a one-way route, knocking down Inspector James Haruna, who was on routine stop-and-search duty at Gate 1 of the National Mosque,” a source revealed.
It was gathered that Inspector Haruna sustained bruises and a fractured left leg from the impact. He was promptly taken to the National Hospital, Abuja, where he remains under medical care.
Police officers quickly arrested the driver and seized the vehicle.
An investigation is ongoing, and authorities say the driver will likely face charges for reckless driving and obstructing law enforcement operations.
