Tensions ran high in Lagos on Thursday morning as military personnel stormed the headquarters of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) in protest over the disconnection of power to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) base in Lagos.

Eyewitnesses reported that uniformed officers arrived at the IKEDC office, opposite MITV in Ikeja, around 7:40 a.m., where they allegedly assaulted some staff members during the heated confrontation.

Sources disclosed that the power outage resulted from unpaid bills, despite an agreement requiring the Air Force to pay IKEDC ₦60 million monthly in exchange for 10 to 12 hours of electricity supply per day.

However, military personnel at the base reportedly continued experiencing frequent blackouts, leading to mounting frustration.

A female military officer was said to have led the operation, and despite police intervention, the personnel initially refused to leave.
