Nigeria’s Under-23 and Under-18 men’s handball teams have kicked off intensive training camps as they gear up for two major international tournaments in March 2025.

U-23 Team Prepares for IHF Emerging Nations Championship
The national Under-23 men’s handball team, under the guidance of coaches Solomon Yola and Adebayo Yekini, is currently undergoing rigorous training in Abuja.

Their focus is on the 5th IHF Emerging Nations Championship, scheduled to take place from March 11 to 16, 2025, in Vana, Bulgaria. The team is determined to make a strong impression on the global stage as they fine-tune their tactics and teamwork.

Meanwhile, the national Under-18 men’s handball team, coached by Emeka Nnamani and Joshua Ayo, has also commenced preparations in Lagos. Their sights are set on the IHF Trophy Intercontinental Phase, which will be held in Pristina, Kosovo, from March 12 to 16, 2025.

The Under-18 team earned their place in this prestigious tournament as Africa’s sole representative, following their dominant 38-26 victory over Guinea in the Continental Phase held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in November 2024.

Their impressive performance secured them the championship title and a shot at global recognition.

As both teams intensify their training, expectations are high for them to showcase Nigeria’s rising talent in handball and compete fiercely on the international stage. Stay tuned for more updates on their journey!
