Katsina govt commends army after troops kill 7 bandits in fierce gun battle

The Katsina State Government has hailed the gallant efforts of the Nigerian Army following a successful counter-banditry operation in Baba village, Kankara Local Government Area.
According to a statement released on Friday by Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, troops engaged armed bandits in a two-hour gun duel on Thursday, August 21, 2024. The clash resulted in the elimination of seven bandits and the recovery of four motorcycles used by the criminals.
“Acting swiftly, troops engaged the bandits in a decisive operation, neutralizing seven of them while the rest fled with gunshot wounds. Four motorcycles used for their operations were also recovered during the mission.
“This success comes as part of the ongoing military operations across frontline local government areas aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and restoring peace for farming activities during this rainy season,” the statement said.

The government commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their bravery and professionalism in protecting lives and property.
“As Government, we remain committed to supporting security agencies with logistics, intelligence sharing, and community-based collaborations to sustain the momentum against banditry. We assure citizens that every effort is being made to secure lives and livelihoods across Katsina State.
“We call on residents, particularly in rural communities, to continue providing timely information to security agencies to aid ongoing operations. Together, we will defeat these criminal elements and restore lasting peace to our state,” the statement added.
