Fire razes girls’ hostel at Kano school

A fire outbreak on Monday completely razed the girls’ hostel at Dano Memorial Secondary School in Gidan Mission, Gani, located in Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State.
The incident occurred shortly after students had vacated the school for the end-of-term holiday, a timing that fortunately ensured no injuries or casualties were recorded.
In a statement issued by the LGA’s Information Officer, Sumaila Gunduwawa, it was confirmed that the inferno destroyed the entire hostel structure and consumed nearly all personal belongings that students had left behind.
Sumaila Local Government Chairman, Farouk Abdu, visited the school to assess the damage and commiserate with the school’s management and affected students.
Describing the fire as a tragic event, Abdu pledged the council’s support and announced a donation of 50 bags of cement to aid the rebuilding process.
The school proprietor, Rev. Alhassan Musa, who conducted the chairman around the site, confirmed that the fire occurred shortly after students had left for vacation.

He expressed relief that no lives were lost and thanked the local government for its prompt response and donation.
The chairman was accompanied by his vice, Adda’u Liman, Administrative Secretary Suraj Kanawa, and Director of Personnel Management Bappa Gaya.
In a separate development, Chairman Abdu also held a peace meeting on Monday with herders and farmers from Bango village in Kanawa Ward.
He urged both groups to promote tolerance and mutual respect to maintain peace and ensure community development
