In a proactive move to safeguard lives and property during the upcoming Eid-al-Adha celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, has deployed no fewer than 1,650 personnel across the state.

The deployment, aimed at ensuring a peaceful and incident-free festivity, was announced in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ihemanacho Umeado. According to the statement, the directive came from the State Commandant, Joachin Okafor, during a high-level security strategy meeting held at the NSCDC headquarters in Port Harcourt.

To maintain tight security, personnel will be strategically stationed at key locations including Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, motor parks, busy road intersections, and other public areas where large crowds are expected.

Commandant Okafor has also directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to intensify patrols and ensure maximum presence around critical national infrastructure and other sensitive locations throughout the state.

Specialised tactical units—such as the Counter-terrorism Unit, Anti-vandal Squad, Agro Rangers, and the Disaster Management Unit—have been placed on high alert and will be fully mobilised to respond promptly to any emergencies or threats during the celebration period.

Emphasising the need for coordinated efforts, Commandant Okafor highlighted the importance of synergy among all security agencies, assuring the public that the NSCDC will work closely with sister agencies to guarantee the safety and security of both residents and visitors across Rivers State.

The Command also urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives to ensure a smooth and peaceful Eid-al-Adha celebration.
