In a welcome development for the academic community, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved the payment of five-month salary arrears to staff of Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, along with the full April salary now aligned with the N70,000 national minimum wage.

The news, which was confirmed in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, has been greeted with relief and enthusiasm by both staff and stakeholders in the state’s education sector.

According to the statement, the state government has also implemented structural reforms to prevent future salary issues at the institution.

One of the key measures includes integrating the polytechnic’s payroll into the central state payment system, ensuring timely disbursements and greater financial accountability.

The reforms, Itua added, are part of broader efforts by the administration to stabilise and improve the state’s educational institutions.
