NFF denies owing late Christian Chukwu, dismisses $128,000 debt rumors

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has firmly denied reports circulating on social media that it owed former Super Eagles captain and coach, Christian Chukwu, the sum of $128,000 prior to his death.
Chukwu, fondly known as “Chairman,” passed away on Saturday, prompting an outpouring of tributes and discussions about his legacy. However, allegations soon surfaced claiming the NFF failed to pay him outstanding entitlements.
In a statement issued by the federation’s General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF described the claims as baseless and misleading.

He clarified that there is no official record indicating the federation owed Chukwu any money after he was relieved of his coaching duties following a 1–1 draw with Angola in a 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifier held in Kano back in August 2005.
Dr. Sanusi went on to challenge anyone with credible, verifiable documentation proving any unpaid debt to Chukwu—or to any national team coach within the past 20 years—to come forward and present such evidence.
