FCTA launches manhunt after ONSA’s official hilux stolen during Juma’at prayers in Abuja

Authorities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have launched an intensive manhunt following the brazen theft of a Toyota Hilux assigned to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Nuhu Ribadu.

The incident occurred during Friday’s Juma’at prayers in Abuja. According to sources, the black Hilux was parked at about 1:05 p.m. opposite the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) building in Area 10, while an official from the ONSA attended prayers at a nearby mosque.

Upon returning from the mosque, the official discovered that the vehicle had been stolen. Security analyst Zagazola Makama first broke the news on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, prompting widespread concern over the boldness of the act and the security implications it may carry.

According to him, “a source said the theft was immediately reported to the Garki Police Division at approximately 2:00 p.m., leading to a swift response by law enforcement.”

In response, the FCT Police Command activated stop-and-search checkpoints throughout the city, targeting major routes in and out of Abuja.

Police officials confirmed that a formal investigation is underway and that efforts have been intensified to recover the vehicle and apprehend those responsible.

“The Command said it had intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen Hilux.”
