The Federal Government has pledged to implement the recommendations of the Committee on the Establishment of the National Healthcare Facility Regulatory Agency (NHFRA), an independent body aimed at improving healthcare standards across Nigeria.

At the official presentation of the committee’s report, Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, emphasized that NHFRA would bridge regulatory gaps in both public and private healthcare facilities.

He reassured stakeholders that the agency would complement, rather than replace, existing regulatory bodies.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Daju Kachollom, hailed the initiative as a timely and strategic step toward addressing long-standing challenges in the healthcare sector. She commended the committee, led by Dr. Richardson Ajayi, for its comprehensive report, which outlines a draft establishment plan, resource mobilization strategy, and implementation framework.

Dr. Ajayi reaffirmed that NHFRA aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that healthcare facilities nationwide meet essential standards of care.
