Nigerian chess prodigies shine at 12th Annual Chess, Community Conference in US

Young Nigerian chess players from the Chess in Slums Initiative have brought pride to the country with their outstanding performance at the 12th Annual Chess & Community Conference in the United States.

The talented players secured multiple medals and scholarships, showcasing their exceptional skills on an international stage. Their success has been widely celebrated, with many recognizing their journey from disadvantaged backgrounds to global recognition through the power of chess.

Hon. Dabiri-Erewa also commended Chess in Slums founder, Tunde Onakoya, for his unwavering dedication to empowering underprivileged children through chess.

The Chess in Slums Initiative, founded by Tunde Onakoya, a Guinness World Record holder for the longest chess marathon, uses chess to foster critical thinking and confidence in underprivileged children while providing them with life-changing opportunities.
