NSCDC officer killed, daughter kidnapped in fresh Kogi bandit attack

A personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), identified simply as Mr. Ayo, has been killed while his daughter was abducted during a fresh bandit attack on Odo-Ere in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Monday evening when armed assailants invaded the community, throwing residents into panic and forcing many to flee for safety.
Sources told newsmen that the NSCDC officer was shot by the attackers during the incident and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment.
However, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The gunmen were also said to have abducted the officer’s first daughter before fleeing the community.

Residents who spoke about the incident expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the area and called on security agencies to urgently intervene to prevent further attacks.
The latest incident has heightened fears among residents of Odo-Ere and surrounding communities, who have repeatedly complained about recurring cases of kidnappings and armed attacks.
The attack comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Kogi and neighbouring Kwara State.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement regarding the killing of the NSCDC officer and the abduction of his daughter.
