Troops nab suspected terrorists, rescue victims in Zamfara

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded significant gains in ongoing counter-terrorism operations, including the arrest of suspected terrorists and their collaborators, the rescue of kidnapped civilians, and the recovery of explosive devices.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Military Information Officer of the operation, Sani Uba, who noted that the coordinated efforts were carried out across various locations within the North-East theatre.
He noted that troops deployed in Ngamdu, while conducting operations in the town, arrested two suspected terrorists identified as Haruna Adamu (32) and Ibrahim Adamu (20), who were reportedly fleeing from Zamfara State into Yobe State.
Items recovered from them included a smartphone, keypad phone, power bank, identification card, suspected illicit substances, charms, and other personal effects. The suspects have since been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation.
In a related development, troops of 254 Battalion under Headquarters Sector 2 arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, Ali Muhammad (30), at Ngamdu Market.

The suspect, who had been on the unit’s watchlist, was found with cash, a keypad phone, identification cards, charms, a knife, and an exercise book containing phone numbers of suspected terrorist contacts.
“The arrest is considered a major disruption to the intelligence network of terrorist elements operating within the area,” the statement said
The suspect has been transferred to Sector 2 Headquarters for further interrogation.
Similarly, troops operating in the Mubi general area of Adamawa State arrested five suspected drug peddlers during a night operation. They were reportedly found in possession of various items, including ammunition, and are currently in custody undergoing investigation.
