FG declares Friday public holiday for international workers’ day

The Federal Government has announced Friday as a public holiday to commemorate this year’s International Workers’ Day.
The announcement was made by Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government, highlighting the nation’s recognition of the contributions of workers across all sectors.
According to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Nigerian workers and commended their contributions to national development.
“The Minister commended Nigerian workers for their hard work and dedication to national development. He noted that their efforts are essential for the nation’s growth and prosperity,” the statement read.

He urged workers to remain committed to patriotism, productivity, and diligence in their duties, stressing that these values are key to sustainable national development.
“The Federal Government of Nigeria is committed to supporting the welfare and security of all workers and creating a favourable environment for economic growth,” the statement added.
Dr Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding during the holiday, encouraging citizens to use the occasion to reflect on the importance of unity and hard work in nation-building.
