President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh round of appointments and renewals across key agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership and improving service delivery in the sector.
The appointments affect major institutions including the National Examinations Council (NECO), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Federal Polytechnic Nyak-Shendam, and the National Library of Nigeria.
As part of the changes, the President appointed Modupe Adeola Adelabu as the Chairman of the Governing Board of NECO. At the same time, Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi has been retained as the Registrar of the examination body.
For the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof Babatunde Salako was appointed as Chairman, while Prof Idris M Bugaje’s tenure as Executive Secretary was earlier renewed for a second and final five-year term.

At the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, Plateau State, Engr Dr Bongfa Binfa was appointed as Rector for a single five-year term, succeeding the pioneer rector whose tenure recently expired.
President Tinubu also renewed the tenure of Prof Chinwe Veronica Anunobi as Director/Chief Executive of the National Library of Nigeria for another five years, following her first appointment in 2021.
According to the Presidency, the appointments and renewals are aimed at strengthening leadership, consolidating ongoing reforms, and improving service delivery across the education sector institutions.
The statement added that the President expects continuity in key reform programmes, including the completion of the National Library Headquarters project and implementation of the institution’s 2025–2030 strategic plan.
