The FCT Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old Abuja resident for allegedly spreading false information about a terrorist attack within the nation’s capital.

Addressing residents in a press briefing on April 10, 2026, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, said the arrest followed the circulation of a viral video on social media that falsely claimed a terror incident had occurred in Abuja.

According to the police, the suspect, Pam Joshua, allegedly fabricated the video by combining gunshot sound effects with footage sourced from TikTok. The misleading content was then presented as a real-time terrorist attack, with captions designed to trigger panic among residents.

Following a detailed investigation and digital forensic analysis, authorities confirmed that the video was entirely false. The police emphasized that the Federal Capital Territory remains safe and secure.

The Command also cautioned the public against creating or sharing unverified information capable of causing fear or disrupting public peace. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through official emergency lines.

The suspect is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
