Ondo gov Aiyedatiwa sacks all political aides

In a major shake-up, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has sacked all political aides in his administration with immediate effect.
The decision affects all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) across the state, signaling a significant restructuring within the government. Details on the reasons behind the mass.
The development was announced on Tuesday in a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, and is part of efforts to improve efficiency and deepen service delivery within the state’s administrative framework.
“In the ongoing drive to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has relieved all political aides of their duties with immediate effect,” the statement read. “Those affected are Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor. The Governor thanked them for their contributions to the development of the State thus far and wished them well in their future endeavours.”

The statement further noted that in a move to strengthen coordination and bring fresh capacity into the administration, the governor plans to appoint approximately 1,000 new aides from the 203 wards across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.
Prior to this action, several aides had voluntarily resigned ahead of the 2027 general election cycle. Governor Aiyedatiwa had previously, in September 2024, appointed at least 344 SSAs and SAs to serve across the local government areas, 33 local council development areas (LCDAs), and 203 wards in the state.
The restructuring signals a significant shake-up in the governor’s political team, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and service delivery across Ondo State.
