Adamawa Police arrest suspect in murder of POS operator

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspect connected to the brutal murder of Abbas Yuguda, a 35-year-old POS operator who was fatally attacked in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.
According to police reports, the tragic incident occurred on March 22, 2025, as Yuguda was heading home after closing his business for the day. A group of assailants, armed with dangerous weapons, ambushed him, inflicting severe head injuries before leaving him in a pool of blood.
Confirming the incident, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Monday revealed that;
“Upon receiving the distress call, operatives from the Mayo-Belwa Divisional Headquarters swiftly arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital, Mayo-Belwa. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.”
Following the attack, some angry youths in the area trailed one of the suspects, identified as Umar SNU, and subjected him to mob action before the police intervened and rescued him.

“The suspect was rushed to the hospital for medical attention and is now aiding the ongoing investigation,” Nguroje added.
In response to the incident, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), condemned the senseless killing and assured the public of a thorough investigation to bring all perpetrators to justice.
He also warned against jungle justice, urging residents to report criminal activities to the police rather than taking the law into their own hands.
The Adamawa State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station to prevent further violence in the area.
