Breaking…12 inmates escape from Kogi correctional centre, one recaptured

In the early hours of Monday, 12 inmates escaped from the Federal Correctional Centre in Koton-Karfe, Kogi State, raising security concerns.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, described the incident as “unfortunate”, assuring that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, is working to prevent a recurrence.
Authorities have already re-arrested one escapee, while investigations are ongoing to determine how the prisoners managed to escape without structural damage to the facility. Fanwo suggested the possibility of internal sabotage, calling for a thorough probe into the jailbreak.

Governor Usman Ododo has directed security agencies to tighten measures to prevent further security breaches. Citizens have been urged to report any suspicious individuals, as those found harboring escapees will face legal consequences.
“There is no cause for panic,” Fanwo assured, emphasizing that the government remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
