Troops nab 65-year-old woman over alleged drug supply to Boko Haram

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), operating under Operation DESERT SANITY V, have arrested a 65-year-old woman, Hauwa Abulazeez, over her alleged involvement in supplying drugs to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
The arrest was carried out in Askira Uba Local Government Area during ongoing counter-terrorism operations aimed at dismantling logistics and support networks aiding insurgents in the region.
She is also believed to be a major conduit in the distribution of the illicit substance to several communities within the theatre of operations.
The arrest, according to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, represents a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics and criminal support networks in the North East.

Uba said the operation was part of sustained military actions aimed at degrading the operational capacity of terrorist groups by cutting off their supply chains and sources of sustenance.
He said the suspected drug dealer was arrested on January 23, 2026, in Askira Uba Local Government Area, and that investigations revealed she sourced the illicit substance from Sarti Baruwa Local Government Area of Taraba State and transported it through established supply routes for onward distribution.
“The suspect is currently in custody undergoing preliminary investigation,” Uba said.
