Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have killed a pastor, two local hunters, and several other civilians during an attack on Tarfa Village in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

Tarfa, a remote community bordering Hawul Local Government Area, has been vulnerable to insurgent activities due to its location and limited security presence.

Residents said the attackers stormed the village and unleashed violence on the community, leaving multiple casualties and throwing the area into panic.

Confirming the incident, the North-East Chairman and Commander of Hunters and Vigilantes, Mallam Shawulu Yohanna, disclosed that the attack occurred around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

“It is unfortunate that some terrorists invaded Tarfa village of Biu local government area last Wednesday.”

“Two of my members were killed including a Pastor attached to the Church of the Brethren a.k.a E.Y.N church in Hausa parlance, as well as other two civilians,” he said.

He explained that six hunters working directly under him engaged the terrorists but were overwhelmed by their firepower.

“The attackers invaded the community when most people had returned back from their farmlands to harvest groundnuts, beans and other crops.

“In fact, the deceased Pastor (Name withheld) who returned from his farm at about 4:pm was scared by the sound of gunshots and rushed outside his home from where the terrorists shot him dead” he said.

Efforts to speak to the spokesman, Borno State command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, were not possible as his phone was not going through, and the text messages sent were not replied.
