NLNG Announces 2026 ‘Change Your Story’ Digital Journalism Training
Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has announced the first edition of its Change Your Story (CYS) Digital Journalism Training for 2026, scheduled to take place from January 19 to 21, 2026, in Abuja.
The highly regarded multimedia journalism programme, widely recognised as Nigeria’s leading digital journalism initiative, is powered by NLNG and aimed at strengthening innovation, professionalism, and collaboration within the media industry.
According to the organisers, the 2026 edition is themed “Re-calibrate, Create, Connect,” reflecting the need for journalists to adapt to rapidly evolving digital trends, embrace creativity, and build stronger professional networks in an increasingly competitive media environment.
Over the three-day training, participants are expected to engage in intensive sessions focused on digital storytelling, multimedia reporting, audience engagement, and emerging tools shaping modern journalism. The programme will bring together experienced media professionals, digital experts, and industry leaders who will share practical insights and hands-on skills with participants.
Since its inception, the Change Your Story training has become a flagship capacity-building platform for journalists across Nigeria, equipping them with relevant skills to thrive in the digital age while upholding ethical and professional standards.
NLNG reiterated its commitment to supporting media development in Nigeria, noting that initiatives like CYS are part of the company’s broader effort to promote responsible journalism, innovation, and excellence in the media sector.

The 2026 edition is expected to attract journalists from across the country, further reinforcing the programme’s reputation as a key platform for shaping the future of digital journalism in Nigeria.
As in previous editions, renowned media project leader and trainer, Mr Dan Mason, who has worked extensively with journalists and communicators across Africa and beyond, will serve as the lead trainer. The programme is coordinated by Mr Taiwo Obe, Founder of The Journalism Clinic.
Over the years, the NLNG Change Your Story programme has trained hundreds of journalists from print, online, television and radio platforms across Nigeria, contributing significantly to the advancement of media excellence. The organisers have welcomed the 2026 cohort, describing the training as a transformative experience for participants.
This year’s training will feature over 27 journalists drawn from major media organisations nationwide. Among the confirmed participants are Nathan Williams of Classic FM 94.3 Abuja; Tony Akowe, Senior Correspondent at The Nation; Anthonia Obokoh, independent journalist; Palang Bukar of Silverbird Television; Ifeanyi Onuba, Editor at The Whistler; and Yemi Adebayo, Head of the Business Desk at Africa Independent Television (AIT), Ebriku John Friday, Editor at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (FCT Council) amknv others
Organisers noted that the programme, made possible by NLNG’s continued support, remains focused on equipping journalists with cutting-edge digital storytelling skills while fostering meaningful professional connections across newsrooms.
