Missing BUK student found alive in Kaduna after 4 years

In a remarkable development, Shafiu Auwal Ibrahim, a former undergraduate of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) who went missing four years ago, has been found alive in Kaduna State.
Shafiu, a native of Janbulo in Kano metropolis, vanished mysteriously in 2021, leaving his family and community in deep distress and uncertainty.
Despite intense searches and repeated appeals by relatives, friends, and classmates, all efforts to trace him had previously yielded no results.
His sudden disappearance sparked wide concern among friends, classmates, and relatives, who made repeated but unsuccessful efforts to locate him.
According to family sources, Shafiu was discovered recently in a remote village in Kaduna State, where he had been residing with an Islamic cleric who claimed to have taken him in years earlier.

“He was found in a village in Kaduna with a cleric who said he met him long ago. The cleric explained that when he first found Shafiu, he appeared to be mentally unstable,” a relative told Daily Trust.
The revelation has brought immense relief to his family, who had long assumed he was dead after years without any trace of his whereabouts.
“We thank God he is alive and well. He’s calm now and back home,” another family member said, describing the discovery as “a miracle after years of heartbreak.”
Though the exact circumstances of his disappearance remain unclear, relatives say Shafiu is gradually recovering and reuniting with his loved ones.
