Explosion rocks mosque in Jakarta high school complex, dozens injured

Dozens of people were injured on Friday when an explosion ripped through a mosque during congregational prayers inside a high school complex in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta.
According to city police chief Asep Edi Suheri, at least 54 people have been hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor cuts to severe burns.
The blast occurred at a mosque located within a school compound in Kelapa Gading, a district in North Jakarta, sending worshippers into panic.
Authorities said the Jakarta Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. A bomb disposal team from the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) was immediately deployed to comb the area for any remaining explosives or clues related to the incident.

“We are still gathering evidence to establish what triggered the explosion,” Suheri told reporters during a televised press briefing.
Emergency services and police cordoned off the site as ambulances rushed the injured to nearby hospitals. As of Friday evening, no fatalities had been reported.
Local media footage showed broken glass, debris, and damaged walls inside the mosque, while witnesses described scenes of chaos as worshippers tried to flee.
Officials have urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation as forensic experts continue their investigation.
