Yobe Hisbah destroys seized alcohol in line with Shari’ah enforcement

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has destroyed several cartons of alcohol seized during an enforcement operation, reaffirming its commitment to upholding Shari’ah law in the state.
In a statement issued by the Commission’s spokesperson, Sibawaihi Ukasha Gashua, the disposal exercise was conducted following a court order from the Lower Shari’ah Court, which authorized the destruction of the confiscated beverages.
The items were intercepted on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, during a coordinated Hisbah operation targeting the transportation and distribution of alcoholic products.

“The items were confiscated from a J5 vehicle that departed from Jos, Plateau State. Both the suspects and the exhibits were taken to court, where judgment was delivered according to Shari’ah law,” he added.
The Hisbah Commission reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations aimed at curbing immoral acts and fostering a disciplined and morally upright society across the state.
