2 police officers injured as gunmen ambush patrol team in Benue

Two police officers have been injured after coming under attack by unknown gunmen along the Ogobia–Adoka Road in Otukpo Local Government Area, Benue State.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday and was confirmed on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited sources familiar with the situation.
The injured officers, identified as Inspector Amos Okoh and Inspector Joseph Adowebo, were reportedly on routine patrol duty when they were ambushed by armed assailants. Both officers sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and were immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Authorities are currently investigating the attack, while security measures in the area have reportedly been heightened to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents and law enforcement personnel.
The sources added that upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Adoka mobilised a patrol team to the scene and evacuated the injured officers to the Teaching Hospital in Otukpo.

The injured policemen are said to be responding to treatment.
Meanwhile, the Command has launched a manhunt for the attackers to ensure their arrest and prosecution.
It also urged residents of the area to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist in apprehending the perpetrators.
