Gunmen kill repentant bandit turned JTF member in Benue market

Panic gripped Zaki-Biam, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, on Monday when unidentified gunmen shot and killed a repentant bandit, Kyoga Joka, at the town’s main market.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants stormed the busy trading hub and opened fire on Joka, who had renounced his criminal past and was serving as a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in Ukum.

The sudden attack sparked chaos as traders and shoppers fled for safety, abandoning their goods in the ensuing commotion. Joka died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.
The killing has heightened tension in the area, with residents expressing fear over possible reprisals and renewed insecurity.
