Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has issued a strong warning to commissioners and special advisers serving in his administration, urging them to improve their performance or face possible removal from office.

The governor gave the charge during the Hawan Nasarawa Sallah homage held in Kano, according to a statement released by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Yusuf said political appointees must earn the trust placed in them by delivering results and remaining committed to good governance. He stressed that accountability and measurable achievements are key priorities of his administration.

He urged members of the State Executive Council and other aides to renew their dedication to serving the people and helping the government achieve its development goals.

“Any appointee who fails to perform up to expectations should either improve or be ready to vacate office,” the governor said.

He added that his administration would not tolerate negligence, poor performance, lack of commitment, or disloyalty from any political appointee.

The governor, however, praised the Commissioner for Environment, Dahir Hashim, describing him as hard-working and innovative despite being the youngest member of the State Executive Council.

According to Yusuf, the commissioner has shown strong commitment, creativity, and performance in promoting government programmes and improving communication between the administration and the public.

He reaffirmed his commitment to recognising and rewarding outstanding performance in public service.
