Tinubu names Adedayo Laniyi as DG of Women Development Centre

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ms. Adedayo Laniyi as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development for an initial term of four years.
The appointment takes effect from April 18, 2026.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, headed by George Akume.
According to the statement, the decision was made in line with the provisions of the National Centre for Women Development (Amendment) Act, 2023.

The President also approved the constitution of the Governing Council of the centre, with Princess Joan Jummai Idonije as chairman.
Other members of the council include Lois Auta, Jamila Sarki, Aisha Baiyee, Jumoke Okoya-Thomas and Princess Anne Agom-Eze.
The Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development is a federal institution established to promote women empowerment, gender equality and socio-economic development for women across Nigeria.
