Police kill notorious bandit leader Dandumbulu, others in Zamfara

A police tactical team has neutralised a suspected bandit warlord, Alhaji Lawali Dandumbulu, during an operation in Lilo village, Wonaka District of Gusau Local Government Area.
Dandumbulu was reportedly in charge of criminal activities in the Lilo axis and had been linked to several attacks in the area.
According to a resident who spoke on condition of anonymity, the incident followed a fresh attack by bandits on the village. During the assault, one person was killed, nine others were abducted, and another victim sustained injuries.
He said, before the redeployment of the police tactical team, the bandit had stormed the village on more than 40 motorcycles, rustled more than 1000 cattle, burgled shops and their silos.
“The bandits were engaged by the police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and were later overpowered, forcing them to run back into the bushes,” he said.

He said another APC came through the Wonoka-Auta and Tambalawa axis, where they heavily engaged the bandits and killed two of them.
“They killed the bandits’ leader, Alhaji Lawali Dandumbulu, destroyed his camp and arrested four, but they later killed three of them,” he said.
The state’s Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the success recorded by the police.
The Police spokesperson further called on the general public to continue cooperating in sharing timely and useful information with the police command to complement its efforts to ensure a secure environment for the people of Zamfara State.
