Tragedy as ex-Super Eagles star Michael Eneramo dies during match in Kaduna

Nigerian football has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of former Super Eagles forward, Michael Eneramo, who reportedly collapsed during a football match in Kaduna State.
According to reports, the 40-year-old slumped while playing at the Angwan Yelwa pitch, located in the Television area of Kaduna. Eneramo had entered the game as a second-half substitute before suddenly collapsing without any physical contact, leaving players and spectators in shock.
Eyewitnesses revealed that immediate efforts were made to revive him at the scene, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. He was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
A source familiar with the incident stated that Eneramo “slumped and died right on the spot,” despite attempts to save his life.

Eneramo, who had retired from professional football, enjoyed a notable career featuring for clubs such as Turkish giants Beşiktaş J.K., Tunisian side Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and Nigerian club Lobi Stars F.C..
Before his passing, he was reportedly running a football academy, contributing to grassroots football development.
The official Super Eagles social media handle confirmed his death, sharing a tribute message alongside his photograph: “Rest in peace Michael.”
His sudden death has sent shockwaves across the Nigerian football community.
