PDP okays caretaker committees to manage party affairs in 5 states

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the establishment of Caretaker Committees to oversee the affairs of the party in Delta, Rivers, Enugu, Imo, and Osun states.
The decision was announced by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Shan, who said the approval was granted by the National Working Committee (NWC) acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC).
According to Shan, the move is in line with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025).
In Delta State, Prof. Sylvester Monye was appointed Chairman, while Dr Michael Tidi will serve as Secretary. Other members of the committee are Ujor Ucheonny, Victor Ofobrukueta, Johnbull Kenairu and Jackson Agbor.
Also listed as members of the Delta committee are Onega Mike, Chief Ekiyor Charles, Mrs Vero Egbuna, Chukwunonso Ndah and Walter Uguoye.
For Enugu State, Steve Oruruo was named Chairman, Martin Ugwuamadieze as Secretary and Ugwu Godswill as member. Other members include Lilian Ugwuoke, Anikezie Michael, Cosmas Ugwu, Basil Aguigwo, Chief Cosmas Onyia and Peter Ajah.

In Imo State, Chief John Okere will function as Chairman, with Mr Magnus Amadi as Secretary and Mr Kenneth Ejiofor as member. Additional members are Chinonso Odoemelam, Celestine Uwah, Mrs Maria Osuigwe, Lady Love Orum, Promise Oneogwe and Mr Hygienus Asoluka.
For Rivers State, Ogbam Ojimah was appointed Chairman, Dr Field Baribeful Nkor as Secretary and Richard Enyia Victor as member. Others on the committee are Grace Boma, Princess Isioma Elenwa, Eldred Owupele-Orubo, Austin Wali, Ada Udong and Edward David.
In Osun State, the committee will be headed by Tunde Tijani as Chairman, with Bamidele Seyi-Abiola as Secretary and Lateef Mumini Obide as member. Other members are Alhaji Sarafa Gbadamosi, Adewoyin Babatunde, Ajileye Wasiu Aderemi and Oluresi Adebanji.
Shan explained that the committees are expected to oversee party affairs in their respective states in accordance with Section 21(2)(a-b) of the PDP Constitution.
He added: “The tenure of these committees shall not exceed 90 days, or until a new Executive Committee is elected.
“Committee members must be strictly guided by the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).”
