Rivers crisis: I will reveal details of peace deal with Fubara soon – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that he will soon make public the full details of the peace agreement reached between him and Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State.
Wike made this known on Wednesday while addressing stakeholders during a meeting in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State. According to him, the reconciliation process between both political leaders is progressing, and the terms of the agreement will be unveiled at the appropriate time.
Recall that in June, President Bola Tinubu intervened in the political crisis that had rocked Rivers State for months, successfully brokering a peace deal between Wike and Fubara.
“Very soon, we will let the people of Rivers state know what we agreed on before Mr President,” Wike said.
The minister, who accused Fubara of reneging on the peace deal, advised the people of Tai to avoid entering into agreements with promise-breakers.
Wike has been criticising Fubara since his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier this month.

The FCT minister reportedly moved against Fubara’s defection, as the PDP structure in Rivers, which he once controlled, has now aligned with the APC.
On Tuesday, Wike said the leadership mistake in Rivers will be corrected in 2027.
The FCT minister, in a veiled reference to Fubara, said leaders are meant to serve the people’s will rather than pursue personal interests.
“We will not make the same mistake again at the state level in 2027, but we will talk about it later when the time comes. Just follow your leaders. Anywhere you see them going, that is where we are going,” he said.
