NUJ FCT council mourns 6 journalists killed in tragic Gombe road accident

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the tragic death of six journalists from Gombe State who lost their lives in a fatal motor accident while on duty.
In a heartfelt condolence message addressed to the leadership and members of the NUJ Gombe State Council, the FCT Council described the incident as a devastating blow to the journalism profession and a painful loss to the entire NUJ family nationwide.
According to the statement, the deceased journalists were dedicated professionals who embodied the core values of journalism, including truth, courage, and unwavering commitment to public service. The council noted that the journalists died in the line of duty, further underscoring their sacrifice and devotion to the profession.

The NUJ FCT Council extended its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased, the Gombe State Council, and journalists across the country. It acknowledged that their untimely passing has created an irreplaceable void within the union but stressed that their legacy of fearless reporting and service to humanity will continue to inspire colleagues.
The council also offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed journalists, asking God to grant them eternal rest and to comfort their grieving families and colleagues during this difficult period.
Reaffirming its solidarity, the NUJ FCT Council assured the Gombe State Council of its full support as they mourn the loss of their members. The message was signed by the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, who called for unity, strength, and mutual support within the journalism community in the face of the tragic loss.
