Many NSCDC officers missing as bandits attack Niger security outpost

An unspecified number of officers are yet to be accounted for following a terrorist attack on an outpost manned by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ibrahim Leteh village, along the Wawa–Lumma road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to reports, the attackers struck in large numbers at about 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, launching a heavy assault on the security post. The sudden and intense gunfire reportedly forced some of the civil defence officers to flee the area to save their lives.
Sources told Daily Trust that during the attack, the terrorists also made away with some rifles belonging to the NSCDC personnel stationed at the outpost.

The spokesperson for the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abubakar Rabiu, said, “We heard a similar report but investigation is still ongoing because until now we cannot establish the extent of what really happened. So, our commandant will speak after the investigation.”
